A Lifetime of Music

I have been playing the violin for most of my life. My parents are both musicians, and my older sister plays the violin. She is the one who inspired me to want to learn the violin at a very young age. Since I can’t remember a time before music, it is part of me. I love music. One of the main reasons I am a teacher is to pass that love of music on to my students.

Teaching for twenty-one years, I have seen my private lesson students benefit from music in so many ways. Studying music does more than just teach students how to play and read music. It teaches them how to set goals and achieve those goals. Music teaches how to overcome obstacles that may seem impossible at the moment. Perseverance and the drive to keep going are developed even when something feels frustrating. Learning how to work and play together are also important components. Music reinforces serious problem solving skills backed by numerous studies. It improves skills in math and reading, memory development, time management, and fosters creativity. Playing instruments gives students a way to express themselves. But…most importantly, learning to play an instrument is fun! I can’t wait to show you how rewarding learning music can be! Mrs. Migliazzo is a wonderful teacher! My son started with violin and after months of playing, Mrs. Migliazzo suggested trying the cello to see if he would feel more comfortable with that instrument. She was so right! He loves playing cello and is now a member of an advanced orchestra. We are so grateful for her fabulous teaching style and rapport with students, and highly recommend her!

Our daughter plays that cello in her school orchestra, but she needed one-on-one lessons to really progress in her music education. We are so glad that we chose Erin! Erin is so professional and offered the personalized attention that my daughter needed to improve all aspects of playing her instrument and reading music. Erin was great about wanting my daughter to bring her school music to the lessons so that they could work on what my daughter was learning in school. This increased my daughter's confidence in her music class at school, and also helped her enjoy playing her cello more. Erin also is very organized, an excellent communicator, and a very nice person! We recommend her highly for your string instrument music education.

Erin is amazing. I took lessons from her for three years as a beginner adult student and made significant progress over that time. Erin is extremely dedicated to her students. She has a talent for determining exactly what each student is struggling with as a unique individual string player, and creating exercises or using additional pieces to build necessary skills. Erin keeps detailed notes on each lesson which means that not only is she monitoring each student's progress, but she is also more than prepared for each lesson. It's never "ok, what should we work on today?" Instead, Erin is intentional about every minute of the lesson time, which means lessons are always effective. Throughout my time with her, Erin had me working at all times on a technical skill, a musical study, and a fun piece. That way, I was building skills and developing constantly, and my practice time was structured and directed as well. I cannot recommend Erin enough! She is a beautiful musician and an even better educator.

Erin taught both of my boys violin lessons for multiple years. Her lessons were engaging and her specific feedback helped them to develop skills that have transferred to other instruments. She chose music that targeted their interest and used the Suzuki method to help them with their ear training. I highly recommend Erin for building musicians of any age. Her clear communication, professionalism, and mastery of her craft help her to stand out among other music professionals.
